Our southeastern tours are held from April 15-June 15 and from September 1-

October 20 because the months of July and August in the Southeastern Anatolian region can be excessively hot.

Tours in the region are not always held at conventional hours. For example, you'll need to get up at 4:00 in the morning in order to see the sun rise from the top of Mt. Nemrut. Once you've seen one of the most spectacular sunrises in the world, we're sure you'll agree it was worth waking up early for.

This tour also gives you the opportunity to sample the wonderful cuisine of Southeastern Turkey. Gaziantep, Adana, Urfa and Mardin have all earned well-deserved reputations for their unique local dishes.

Even in early spring and late autumn, daytime temperatures can be quite balmy. In addition to lightweight summer clothing, be sure to pack a jacket or sweater. Nights are relatively cool and Mt. Nemrut may even be a bit chilly.

The main highlights of this tour include remnants of Mesopotamian, ancient Anatolian, Roman, Persian and early Christian cultures. Sites include Mt. Nemrut, Kahta, Crusaders' Castles, St. Paul's Church, the first in the world, Harran, site of the world's first university, the Roman mosaics of Zeugma, Mesopotamian villages dating back to the Middle Ages, Hasankeyf, Midyad, the stone houses of Mardin and the walls of Diyarbakir.
